UK Work Visas

As of my last knowledge update in January 2022, the United Kingdom has implemented a points-based immigration system for work visas. The main work visa categories under this system include:
  1. Skilled Worker Visa:

    • This is the main route for skilled workers to come to the UK. To be eligible, applicants need a job offer from a UK employer with a valid sponsor license. The job must be at a required skill level, and applicants must meet English language and financial requirements. The Skilled Worker Visa replaced the Tier 2 (General) Visa.
  2. Intra-Company Transfer Visa:

    • This visa category is for employees of multinational companies who are being transferred to a UK branch. There are different subcategories, including long-term staff, short-term staff, and graduate trainee.
  3. Health and Care Worker Visa:

    • This route is designed for individuals working in eligible health and social care occupations. It includes additional benefits, such as reduced visa fees.
  4. Global Talent Visa:

    • The Global Talent Visa is for individuals recognized as leaders or potential leaders in various fields, including science, humanities, engineering, the arts, and digital technology. Applicants need to be endorsed by a recognized body in their field.
  5. Start-up Visa:

    • This visa is for individuals who want to start a business in the UK for the first time. Applicants need an endorsement from an approved endorsing body.
  6. Innovator Visa:

    • The Innovator Visa is for experienced entrepreneurs who want to establish a business in the UK. Applicants need an endorsement from an approved endorsing body.
  7. Tier 5 (Temporary Worker) Visa:

    • The Tier 5 Visa includes various categories such as the Youth Mobility Scheme, International Agreement, and Government Authorised Exchange. This allows individuals to come to the UK for temporary work or specific programs.

Please note that immigration policies can change, and it's important to check the latest information on the official UK government website or consult with an immigration professional for up-to-date details. Additionally, the points-based system considers factors such as skills, qualifications, salary, and shortage occupations, so meeting specific criteria is crucial for successful visa applications
